RIP Joan Rivers.
The comedian passed away at 81. She was known for her acerbic wit, and for daring to speak up, regardless of who she provoked. In fact, so sharp was she with her criticisms, especially regarding fashion, that victims of her fashion critiques remembered her fondly via twitter when she passed. One such celeb was Anna Kendrick.

You can read the rest here. Seriously though, if being able to make yourself endearing to the people you criticise is not the mark of a true legend, I don't know what is.
And, just for good measure, here are two choice quotes from Rivers that we especially like.
1. When she reminds us that time doesn't heal all wounds.
You heal your wounds. Most of the time, closure doesn't just come to you. You have to create it yourself.

2. Don't be afraid of your voice.
We're not saying you should be careless with your words, especially if they could genuinely scar someone. But if there's something you're scared of saying for fear that it's not politically-correct, or that it might offend people, say it anyway. An uncomfortable truth is always better than a beautiful lie.
