Messy floors and overspilling luggages - these are the scenarios that come to mind when we try to be superwoman and only start packing for a flight one hour before we need to leave for the airport. Indeed, too often we plan a getaway without taking into consideration the most troublesome part: the packing process.
Before you throw any and every possible item into your luggage, and therefore go insane from the eventual mess, here are some tips to keep in mind.
1. Instead of simply listing the items you want to bring, divide them into various categories. These categories can include, but are not exclusive to, discretionary items (food, entertainment), habit-dependent items (lingerie, electronics and gadgets), and activity-dependent items (clothes, money). Taking a quick look at the list allows you to immediately see what you're missing.
2. Pack to repack. Instead of simply placing everything into the luggage as it is, you should place them in separate carriers, which would make it easier to organise again, should you need to remove them for TSA checks at the airport.

3. Comparmentalise your items. Organise them by day, but if you're reusing an item, consider organising them according to item type (eg, sweaters, shirts, pants) instead.

4. Pack dirty clothes into a new laundry bag. You'll realise the convenience when you return home. Simply chuck the entire bag into the wash.
5. Pack your accessories, such as rings and necklaces, into small containers, so they don't become entangled in your pile of clothes.
6. Have you been told that you should roll your clothes instead of flat packing them? It's debatable whether that actually saves space, but we know for a fact that it takes a lot more time to roll something tightly than if we were to fold it neartly. And because we're all about efficiency, we recommend flat packing them.
7. It is possible to only have a carry-on when you travel. This is especially possible if you're low maintenance. You can always use the toiletries that the hotels provide, including towels. For toiletries, all you really need to bring along are a toothbrush, a 100ml toothpaste, and 100ml bottles of your facial cleanser and any other skin care products.
