You don’t need super nimble fingers or a talent for arts and crafts to make your own accessories. Here are three easy peasy DIY necklaces that can be made using easily-found materials. Have fun!
What you’ll need
- 100 cm Thread
- 1 Needle
- Beads
- 2 Necklace rings
- 1 Necklace chain
- Pliers
- Scissors
Instructions
1. Cut four pieces of thread, each 25cm in length, then tie a needle to each thread.
2. Tie a knot with the ends of each string.
3. Thread some beads in.
4. Tie them together at the ends. You can use a ribbon knot or a square knot for this..
5. Using a pair of pliers, attach necklace rings to the ends.
6. Twist the beads together before attaching them to the necklace rings to the chain.
Lace Necklace
What you’ll need:
- Scissors
- Spray paint
- Lace
- Necklace chain (with rings)
Instructions
1. Cover the lace with spray paint. (You can also use fabric dye, but fabric-friendly spray paint is more convenient)
2. Let the paint dry.

3. Attach the chain to the ends of the lace and you’re done!
Tip: If you find a piece of lace with patterns that you really like but just not in the shape you want, try cutting out similar patterns and rearrange them into a V-shape.
Chevron shaped necklace
What you’ll need:
- 1 Magnet sheet
- 2 nail polish colours
- 1 Necklace chain
- Scissors
- Plier
Instructions
1. Cut out two chevron shapes from the magnet sheet. (Make sure one is longer than the other)
2. Paint on the nail polish
3. Do the same for the other piece. Use a different colours, for an attractive contrast.
4. Using a pair of pliers, poke a hole through the ends of the pieces. If you’re having trouble, poke several holes with a needle first.
5. Attach a necklace ring through both ends and add on the chain to it.
6. Do the same for the other piece, and then you’re done!
