I love colourful tribal prints but I’ve always been a little scared to wear them - how can I wear them without looking OTT? – Zoe, 24

Tribal prints aren’t a new trend but they don’t look like they’re going away anytime soon. Here are some ways to make sure your outfit isn’t OTT and still fashion forward.

Practice moderation: Balance your outfit with both things that have tribal prints and those that don’t. Avoid pairing them with other equally statement worthy items such as feather earrings, fringe vests or turquoise statement necklace.

Mix prints: When it comes to mixing prints, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. If two pieces of your outfit already have tribal prints, keep the rest of your outfit simple to avoid visual overload. Also choose pieces that have a common element such as colours from the same family on a colour wheel or similar shapes. A good white, beige, grey or black classic is also a worthy investment.

If you still want to mix it up a bit more: Play around with different textures – faux fur, leather and suede are all good options.

Accessorize: If you’re still afraid to mix prints, start small and try it out with accessories. A tribal scarf or tribal inspired necklace is a great way to start experimenting.
